CLASSES

5:30 PM Classes

Absolute Beginners, Level 1, Level 2, Slow Flow Resto’ are different levels of classic yoga based on the lineage of Krishnamacharya through the traditions of Pattabhi Jois and BKS Iyengar, with a dash of critical alignment therapy for tension release, and core + spine warm-up and tune-in, meditation and breathing. Progressive over a session. Sessions vary, dependent on the levels and needs of registered students.


7:30 PM Classes

are yoga-style intelligent movement + Critical Alignment Therapy classes.

Hips Hams Core is designed to make you open, stable and strong.

Better Backs Hips Hams is therapeutic to decompress and mobilize the spine, open very tight bodies, and heal “issues”.


Restorative

is a hybrid of critical alignment, intelligent stretching and classic (Iyengar/Judith Lassiter style) passive, supported restorative postures – for nervous system healing, immune system boosting, smoothing emotions, and deep release and healing.


Yes, we have yoga mats for your use.

Classes are 1.5 hours. They pay for the yoga space as well as new and maintained props, and are an important source of income. Thank you!

MEDITATION provides a deeper appreciation of the interrelatedness of all things and the part each person plays. The simple rules of this game are honesty with yourself about where you are in your life and learning to listen to hear how it is.

Meditation is a way of listening more deeply, so you hear from a deeper space, exactly how it is. Meditation will help you quiet your mind, enhance your ability to be insightful and understanding and give you a sense of inner peace.

If you meditate regularly, even when you don’t feel like it, you will make great gains, for it will allow you to see how your thoughts impose limits on you. Your resistances to meditation are your mental prisons in miniature.  

When I asked Maharajji how to meditate, he said, “Meditate like Christ.”

I said, “Maharajji, how did Christ meditate?” He became very quiet and closed his eyes. After a few minutes, he had a blissful expression on his face and a tear trickled down his cheek. He opened his eyes and said, “He lost himself in love.”

“slower is stronger”. Designed to dramatically increase
core strength; stabilize, strengthen and open hips; and safely

Explore alignment, form and breath in a wide range of familiar + new poses, applying what we learn to deeper forward bends, 
backbends, balances, inversions and some flowing sequences, always with an eye to moving from, and into, the central channel. Pre-registration required.

Introduction to kriyas (exercise and meditation series), chanting of mantras and meditations that focus on awareness of life energy throughout the body. These practices can bring a sense of calm, strength, vitality and overall balance to the system. With Dave Haddock. Pre-registration required.

Assumes some familiarity with Sun Salutation A+ B and their components, foundational standing poses like Samastithih (Tadasana), Triangle (Trikonasana), Extended side angle (Parsvakonasana), Warriors 1 + 2 (Virabhadrasanas). We use these to find the principles of intelligent movement universal to all yoga and all life activities, and use those principles to widen our repertoire of poses. Pre-registration required.

One and a half to two hour sessions start with transpersonal breathing to open and prime the body for the vibrations of sound, followed by live sound currents and vibrations of gong, singing bowls, didgeridoo, jaw harp, flute, and drum.

Transpersonal Breathing is anything from Tumo or Wim Hof to kriya, qigong and the different schools of pranayama.

Sound vibration is well-proven to have a powerful effect on our minds and bodies. Research shows sound healing can slow down our brainwaves and put our bodies in a very relaxed, dreamlike state, and help with physical and mental health conditions and pain.

Sessions are led by Philippe Mouchet. He first discovered the power of focussed or intentional breathing in 2010 practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, and again with the Wim Hof Method. The study of breath became a focus in all his pursuits as he personally experienced that it enhances self-awareness, upgrades health and human physiology, releases mental, emotional and physical blockages, and elevates mood. 

Philippe is an Oxygen Advantage instructor  (oxygenadvantage.com). He teaches a variety of breathwork including Kundalini kriya, pranayama, Buteyko clinic exercises, Wim Hof Method, and yoga. Breathwork led him to his second passion — sound and vibration – which he has practiced from the mountaintops of the Yukon to the Himalayas of Nepal.

Breath is the sound of life in the body. 
Sound is the vibration of life in the universe.

Power of Breath is accelerated, rhythmic breathing sustained over a period of time (1 hour in our sessions), in a safe setting. 

Your life holds unlimited potential for growth. Nature teaches us that in order to grow, the old must first be released into the endless cycle of death and rebirth. If you are ready for change and in need of some inspiration, come breathe with us. 

Based on breathwork that occurs in all cultures and many practices ancient and modern – among others Kundalini, indigenous breathwork, Dr. Stanislav Grof’s famous holotropic breathwork, Soma Breathwork, Transpersonal Breathwork, Dreamwise Breathwork, and many more versions – holotropic means “moving towards wholeness” – the breathing ultimately quiets and empties your mind, giving you access to natural inner healing of your psyche; shifts in your life force and energetics: insights into yourself and the universe; access to solutions and creativity. 

These sessions could be considered a collaboration between you the breather, and the evocative music that first keeps you breathing, and then supports your post-breathing experience. Generally, this music is a playlist of great music but occasionally, the music is live.

Tight hips put undue load on the back and cause overuse of the spine. Additionally, hips are considered the seat of emotions, they hold tension, memories and stored energy from past and current experiences, Opening the hips leads to better blood circulation, reduces stiffness in the back reducing the chances of back pain, and releases stored emotions and energy for greater emotional balance and freedom. Our work will run the gamut from gentle, somatic and strengthening which will necessarily be core strengthening and will work with quadraceps and hamstrings. Power of Breath is accelerated, rhythmic breathing sustained over a period of time (1 hour in our sessions), in a safe setting. 

Your life holds unlimited potential for growth. Nature teaches us that in order to grow, the old must first be released into the endless cycle of death and rebirth. If you are ready for change and in need of some inspiration, come breathe with us. 

Based on breathwork that occurs in all cultures and many practices ancient and modern – among others Kundalini, indigenous breathwork, Dr. Stanislav Grof’s famous holotropic breathwork, Soma Breathwork, Transpersonal Breathwork, Dreamwise Breathwork, and many more versions – holotropic means “moving towards wholeness” – the breathing ultimately quiets and empties your mind, giving you access to natural inner healing of your psyche; shifts in your life force and energetics: insights into yourself and the universe; access to solutions and creativity. 

These sessions could be considered a collaboration between you the breather, and the evocative music that first keeps you breathing, and then supports your post-breathing experience. Generally, this music is a playlist of great music but occasionally, the music is live.

SANKALPA . SETTING RESOLVE — A powerful and informative afternoon of contemplative movement, inquiry and silence for those wanting, on the first day of their new year, to take time to sit within their space; to listen for a calling within that has not been fully heard; to remember a string of small victories in 2023 that haven’t been truly celebrated; to remember the most important things they learned; to hone their custom-crafted message to guide into the future. 
The afternoon is a special mix of grounding, clearing, stretching, inquiring, contemplation, restorative yoga and yogic sleep.
We start by grounding, clearing and stretching into our physical bodies to centre, stimulate and tune into our subtler bodies and sensations — the portal to the detached and conscious presence needed to look at the past and dream the future. 
A meditation guides us to reflect on the past year, dream about the year to come, and from this formulate our one guiding resolution for the year. Followed by some movement to move our sankalpa through our being.
A silent break for lunch, coffee, tea and personal meditation or contemplation to feel/write anything arising from the meditation and to refine our Sankalpa. 
A few deeply relaxing restorative yoga poses drop us into the para-sympathetic nervous system in preparation for yoga nidra. Yoga nidra plants our Sankalpa deeply so it comes to us throughout the year, to guide our direction and choices.
