WHY Ashtanga Yoga?
If you're heavy, you'll get light!
If you're weak, you'll get strong!
If you're tired, you'll get energized!
If you're broken, healing comes!
If you have fear, you'll grow to love!
If you have doubt, you develop trust!
If you have darkness, you'll move toward light!
Physically, it is the king of therapy.
Mentally, it is a master therapist.
Spiritually, it is a life compass
complementary to any tradition!
Simply, this is yoga that works!

Yoga in the Alpine is a yoga school started in Whitehorse in 2004 by Iain Grysak and Erica Heuer. Terice Reimer-Clarke joined us in 2005; Shannon Clohosey in 2010.

Ashtanga Vinyasa emphasizes breath, awareness, core (bandhas), alignment, anatomical understanding, and empowering personal practice. We feel Ashtanga Vinyasa is, over the long-term, the most powerfully transformative form with which to safely progress to yoga’s deepest benefits in all aspects of life.

Yoga is endlessly fascinating and rewarding – from each of the asanas to anatomy, ayurveda, pranayama, pratyahara, meditation, the simple profound guidance of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, and the pure teachings of the Buddha.

As we each progress in our experiential understanding of these aspects, we strive to share what we learn. Which is why we teach together at Yoga in the Alpine.

Feel free to contact us, and come give us a try! Yoga is for every body. Yoga is profound and marvelous!
